Welcome!

On July 16th, 2002, a dozen gay men and lesbians met and formed the Out There Sports & Recreation group, a new umbrella sports organization for the LGBT community.

Out There Sports & Recreation exists to provide opportunities for women and men to participate in sports and recreation activities in good company with other members of the Winnipeg LGBT community.  We feel that there is a need for more places for queer people to meet and have fun, and Out There was created to meet that need.

Out There Sports & Recreation does not itself organize events, but promotes events organized by others in the LGBT community

Mail List:

A mail list has been created to consolidate all the mail lists held by various people involved in the many sports and activities of the Out There groups. This list enables YOU to control your incoming email from whatever sport/activity your interested in, and to not have our email address published. Currently there are over 190 members on the list. Some of the features are:

1- Each person subscribes and un-subscribes himself/herself, either by email or visiting a special Web page:
http://lists.umanitoba.ca/mailman/listinfo/out-there

2. Everybody who is on the mailing list can post THEIR OWN messages directly to the list, without having to go through the list owner first. Any replies to such messages will go back to the original poster and not to the whole list. In this way, people can spontaneously organize their own events, etc. without having to have the list owner post a message for them.

**Note- You MUST post from the email address that you are subscribed with.  Messages posted from any another email address will be not sent out and rejected.

3. Users can set themselves up for special features such as, the automatic removal of duplicate messages. This is available from the Subscriber settings page.

4. Older messages are archived and available only to the subscribed members via a special Web page.

Goldenboy Volleyball League

Lo and Behold…the Winnipeg School Division Gods have finally spoken!

We have the north gym every Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm at Gordon Bell High school starting November 14th. We will not have use of the gym during holidays or when the school requires use of the gym for other purposes.

Here is the link to the school’s location at 3 Borrowman Place: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Enter the gym through the doors just off the back lane behind Enterprise Car Rentals on Portage Avenue.

We are a recreational drop-in volleyball organization dedicated to promote sporting activity for the GLBT community and their friends. Fees are $2 per night or $20 for the season. Our last night of volleyball is usually the Friday the week before the May long weekend. All skill levels are welcome.

More GBLT Sports?

Interested in another sport?  Want to start another group?  Contact us and we can help and put you in touch with others who may be interested and get a posting on here. Remember, Out There Sports and Recreation does not organize events.  People in the community who care, do!

Out There Sports and Recreation only helps to promote and get the word out about the different activities in the GBLT community.  If your interested in starting, organizing or contributing to an existing sport or starting another, please email the Webmaster Jeff at jmalcovi@hotmail.com
